The recent passing of Apple's founder Steve Jobs has spawned a new era for the company. As we all know, Apple already has a magical appeal to consumers, but the publicity surrounding Mr. Job's death has taken it to a whole new level. As a recent Mac convert, I truly believe that 2012 is going to be the year where the average consumer will finally be able to rationalize the purchase of a shiny new Apple. On another note, Pirates of Silicon Valley is a great flick that gives you a behind the scenes look at the inception of the computer business that we know today. It's never been more appropriate to give it a watch : )
The latest in the long line of comic book superhero movies to come out lately is Marvel Comics’ Thor, based on Norse mythology, and was created by Stan Lee in the ‘60s. Thor was also a part of the superhero team The Avengers. You may or may not have noticed that Marvel Studios is building up to an Avengers movie in 2012.
Your favourite pirates are back in this new adventure to find the fountain of youth!
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the fourth installment of the popular Disney franchise, following Johnny Depp as the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow. Months after the great battle of Davy Jones, we find Jack in a similar situation to what we first met him in, without a boat and a quest on his mind.
The third and final (most likely) installment in the Toy Story series. And it is nothing short of a masterpiece! (Disclaimer: I'm not going to spoil the movie, I'm only going to mention the main story points then go off on a tangent).
Memento (2000) revolves around a man that suffers from short-term memory loss that uses tattoos and notes to hunt down the man that he believes killed his wife and gave him his acquired brain injury.
Sherlock Holmes (2009) directed by Guy Ritchie, starring Robert Downey Jr (as Sherlock) and Jude Law (as Dr. Watson) puts a new spin on the famous character originally created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes in this adaptation, contrary to past depictions, is portrayed as a sort of rock star badass.
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), an animated movie voiced by George Clooney (Ocean's 11), Merryl Streep (Mamma Mia), Bill Murray (Ghostbusters, Life Aquatic) and Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore) not to mention the many other notable supporting actors. If that wasn't enough, this little gem of a movie was directed by none other than veteran director Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, The Darjeeling Limited).
