Settlers of Catan Gameplay
Firstly, the game is made for 3-4 players. The beauty of the iPad version is that you can play solo, by adding two computer opponents. Each game begins by building your first settlement and road. Settlements are placed at the interestions of the honeycomb gameboard (see image below). After each of your opponents builds their first settlement, you build your second settlement and road.

From this point, the game proceeds via dice rolling. When a roll of the dice matches the number of a resource tile which contains a settlement, you will recieive the appropriate adjacent resource.
The game continues on in this fashion. On each turn you will roll the dice, attempt to trade resources with your opponents, or attempt to build new roads and settlements.
Each settlement is worth one victory point. Settlements can be upgraded to cities which are worth two victory points. The game is "won" when a player reaches ten victory points.
