Sarah Blasko - As Day Follows Night

sarahIf you like jazz music this album is for you. This is the third album by Sarah Blasko released in 2009, whose voice is simply beautiful.  Today so many artists lack true talent, but every once in a while you find someone who has natural singing ability without the need for studio tricks to enhance the depth of their voice. Her songs take you through the journey of the artist’s life; it’s personal and exposes many vulnerable moments in her relationships.

This singer/songwriter is out of her time, in the sense that she takes you to an older era of music style. Sarah reminds me of a New Zealand native Bic Runga who also possess a style which is different from the present more widely accepted music scene.

If you’ve never heard of Sarah Blasko I would suggest you start out by checking out the following songs:  “Down on Love”, “Hold on My Heart” and “Sleeper Awake”.

You may recognize Sarah as the lead from the Australian band “Acquiesce” from the mid-1990’s, Sarah then went solo in 2002. She also won the best pop release for “What the Sea Wants, the Sea Will Have” at the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA ) Music Awards.  After listening to “What the Sea Wants, the Sea Will Have” I realized this was nowhere near as good as her latest album.  To me artists that have such unique jazz vocals similar to the talented “Etta James” should never incorporate the pop genre in their music catalogue. It’s just not a fit!

I'm putting my mouth were my money has gone... Music!

Bio: International University Graduate Specializing in International Business. Working in media for the last seven years. I've spent every hard earned dollar on guitar lessons, concerts and music festivals around the world. Okay maybe not every dollar, but to put in perspective- I rent over buying, travel with every holiday I am given and spend my leisure with the people that inspire me. I drink with the seasons: micro-brews on patios and warm reds in the winter. I am a bit of brew/wine snob, but have always found comfort in a good dive where options do not exist. I love to cook and I'm most interested in food-fusion.

Agree/Disagree | The power is within you to speak up!

Complacency to me is the route of personal demise. Never take your curiosity for granted and always have the ability to ask questions.
