Guinness is a delicious beer that was once promoted as medicinal as evidenced by their former slogan "it's good for you," which dates as far back as the 1930s. In fact, it was only last year that the company finally stopped offering a free pint of the dark stout for those that donated blood (only in Ireland).  Guinness is said to be high in iron, something blood doners need to replenish after a donation.  It's also one of the lower calorie beers around, coming in lower than many popular beers including both Corona and Budweiser.  So, head down to your favourite watering hole this month and enjoy a pint of Guinness for your health.  Cheers!
